Class Descriptions

Yoga for beginners: Gentle classes for those completely new to the practice of yoga, or those who are coming back to it after some time. Deliberately slow and gentle to ensure everyone feels comfortable and at ease. A great foundation to develop your future yoga practice.

Yin Yoga: Yin Yoga is a calming and balancing practice that focuses on releasing deep connective tissues (fascia, ligaments, bones and joints). A series of passive, floor-based postures are held in stillness for several minutes to stimulate the flow of chi (life energy). The practice is transformational as we integrate mindfulness of the breath and body. No matter what arises, we learn how to stabilise the mind, be in the moment and at peace with ourselves. Classes are open level and suitable for beginners.

Pilates:  Pilates is a system of exercise that consists of low-impact movements that strengthen the body, with particular focus on core strength. Great for general fitness and wellbeing, as well as assisting with posture, balance and flexibility. Our Pilates classes are mat-based and open level.

Hatha Yoga: Hatha Yoga is defined as movement that develops strength, flexibility, bodily relaxation, and mental concentration. Hatha classes are designed for mixed-level participants and provide a balanced combination of sustained poses with attention to basic alignment and therapeutic principles. Mindfulness, and the observing of breath and body are integral parts of all classes.

Vinyasa Flow: Vinyasa flow is a style of yoga practice that links different postures together to create a flowing sequence of movement. With its roots in Ashtanga yoga, students flow through the postures, connecting them with the breath. We offer options for both slower, gentle flows and faster, more dynamic flows. Each class will have plenty of modifications to ensure it is suitable for all.

Kundalini Yoga: Kundalini classes are made up of a sequence of postures (asanas), breath (pranayama), sound (mantras), hand positions (mudras) known as kriyas. Each class ends with meditation and relaxation all of which brings about a powerful cleansing of the whole being. Through the practice, the chakras (energy centres) and meridians (energy pathways) are unblocked and activated to allow the influx of new dynamic energy to flow. Kundalini yoga supports a healthy body and balanced mind, helping to raise your consciousness and connect you with your true self. A beautiful practice suitable for all levels. Complete beginners warmly welcomed.

Flow + Restore: Playful Vinyasa based class, unravelling into a restorative and meditative practice - the perfect mix for those who want both dynamic movement, and deep relaxation in their practice. The last part of the class will include Restorative postures which are held for a long period of time, using props to support the body completely, bringing the nervous system into a state of deep relaxation. Different options will be offered to all students and the classes are open to all.

Yogabirth Pregnancy Yoga: A Scaravelli based yoga class focused entirely on pregnancy, birth and beyond. You will be welcome from 13 weeks of pregnancy until baby arrives. More than just a yoga class, the Yogabirth class is infused with birth experience and knowledge developed over 30 years, with one aim: for you to leave every session feeling calmer and more confident than before you arrived. Tea afterwards provides the chance for you to nurture long-lasting friendships, helping your adventure into motherhood get off to the best possible start. Suitable for all pregnancies, Julie will adapt the class to your needs as required.

Post-natal Yoga for Mums and Babies

Yoga-based exercise to help you recover from the stresses of pregnancy and birth. You are welcome from about 6 weeks after the birth of your baby (8 weeks after C-section). Learn essential exercises for the post-natal period and help reduce the strains of carrying, holding and feeding your baby. Tea afterwards helps you nurture friendships with other new mothers and gain confidence and support. Babies are warmly welcomed so bring your baby mat, blanket and toys to keep them amused.

Strength and Flexibility

This class uses conscious breathing, body awareness, relaxation and strengthening to sculpt the physical, emotional and mental body. Expect to develop a stronger and more flexible body, physical awareness, energy and vitality and a general sense of balance and well-being.

Restorative Yoga: Restorative Yoga is a slow and gentle practice that centres on holding postures for long periods of time whilst completely supported by props. With the body supported, it can completely relax, offering us the chance for deep relaxation and restoration for both the body and mind. The perfect antidote to feelings of stress and anxiety, Restorative Yoga is a wonderful balm for all students from complete beginners to experienced practitioners.
